What is one of the most important details that goes into planning a bridal shower? The food of course!
On the menu will likely be an array of sweets. Cookies, candies, bridal shower cupcakes?
Ever since a friend of mine asked me to bake 120 cupcakes for her wedding reception, I have loved experimenting with different cupcake flavors and icings. I definitely am no Martha Stewart when it comes to decorating, but her cupcake cookbook is a go-to standard for me.
In planning my bridal shower cupcakes, I wanted flavors and icings that would fit into the garden party and yellow color scheme I have been cooking up.
In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a classic chocolate cupcake recipe. I fully endorse Martha’s recipe for Devil’s Food Cupcakes. These are moist, have a great chocolate punch and taste great every time! This would be the perfect base for your bridal shower cupcakes.
If you are really creative, you could plan a whole “build-your-own” bridal shower cupcake station. I think that is too much time and responsibility for my upcoming bridal shower guests, but take a look at this bridal shower that got really immersed in the garden theme.
Of course I am a big fan of bridal shower cupcakes, but not everyone is on the mini-cake bandwagon.
So you might consider alternatives – like cute one-bite tarts or these tea cakes looked delicious.
If you are planning to create your own bridal shower cupcakes for the first time or a bake a large quantity – I definitely recommend you go out and buy an ice cream scoop (if you don't already have one). Who knew (oh, right – Martha did) that this kitchen gadget puts the exact right amount of batter into your cupcake tins?
Best wishes for bridal shower cupcake success! And maybe while you are out buying that ice cream scoop, you should pick one up for the bride-to-be.
